How can pay per click advertising increase traffic, leads and sales?

PRE-QUALIFIED TRAFFIC.

Pay per click adverting  visitors to your website are already considered as a qualified prospect or buyer of your product. PPC advertising leads your customers to you for a lesser cost.

INSTANT EXPOSURE, IMMEDIATE PROFITS.

Pay per click search engines enable you to get results faster than you would with organic search. Pay per click advertising is instant and provides almost immediate profits when compared to organic search. Consider that most search engines will take upwards of 2 months to discover your new site through organic search, sometime less if you have a good optimisation regime as opposed to the instant exposure that pay per click search engine advertising can provide. It is clear to see that many businesses are quick to see the advantages of pay per click advertising as a means of short cutting the standard optimisation period and featuring on the front page of a search engine much earlier than they would normally. It is also a quick way of establishing a new brand or re-establishing an old brand.

CONSISTENT TOP LISTINGS.

One  way of getting consistent top listings for your website is a sponsored listing in search results. The only sure fire way to get a sponsored listing that will stay in place is most likely to buy a sponsored lisiting. There are times when you can get a sponsored listing  for free but these days that is achieved mainly through luck than design. If your advert is using keywords that match your website’s keywords and is not highly populated by other companies advertising the same thing as well as using the same keywords and phrases then there is a chance of a sponsored link position. You need to also weigh this position up against the number of  “happy clickers” who will deplete your budget through clicking on the first listing regardless. This does happen and larger companies are probably better placed to absorb this anomaly than perhaps a small company where every click needs to count.

Pay per click advertising enables advertisers to control their advertising campaigns in the following ways:

  • Advertisers can effectively target their audience and set their own price per click.
  • PPC advertising networks provide tools which identify your audience by geographical location, topic and industry.
  • PPC advertising networks carry lists of publisher website where your adverts can be placed.
  • PPC networks provide tools to check per click costs, telling you if the cost is still competitive and if the advert would still be listed at the current price.
  • Your advert listing position is determined by highest bid, second highest bid and so on up to 7-8 adverts down the right hand side of organic listings.
  • PPC networks provide protection against click fraud and in many instances it is credits are automatically added to your account.
  • You have control of our advertising budget through the use of a daily budget tool, where you can set it to what you want to spend on a daily basis or leave it to run until you want to change it.

In PPC advertising, what is most important are the keywords and phrases that you use. You will need to research and select at least 10 “very specific” keywords that would give you the best traffic that is relevant to your site or product in a search performed by a prospective customer. Your advert should be brief, creative and relevant. There is no point in kissing the blarney stone and describing something that is not. Tell the truth about your product or service and do not lead prospective customer on. Including the price of a product or service may also help the customer to decide whether to visit your website for more details and perhaps lead to a sale.

You should budget your bids properly. There is no point in overbidding because you will only lose money. Bidding too low will only result in your adverts not showing in any listing at all. Check your return on you investment against your spending. If you see no sales as a result of your efforts then it is time to revisit that campaign and look at the reasons why it is not performing the way you would like.

Pay per click advertising is by far the most popular way of marketing on the internet these days. It has taken some time for many of the other main search engines to follow the Google model, but be assured that this is most definitely the way ahead as a source of revenue for these search engines. A couple of things that you should ask yourself in this instance is. Am I using the correct search engine(s) to market my products or services? Do the demographics of these search engines meet the criterion for me to sell my products and services?
