Abby Johnson of Webpronews talks to Erik Lumer of Cascaad at SXSW 2010 about overcoming real-time web challenges.
Real-time web content technology has experienced some what of an explosion in line with social media and mobile media ranging from current events to personal informtation added to the social web which is being aggregated in real-time. Although this content is growing in value, Erik Lumer of Cascaad says that the technology is still behind in its ability for process all the information and cut out the noise.
Up until now real-time has been focused around search, but Lumer believes there is a lot more to it. He explains that search doesn’t fit with real-time web since users cannot search for things they don’t know already exists, effectively calling real-time a “push” medium as opposed to a “pull” medium.
